Supported Employment

employment    Supported Employment helps individuals with disabilities to become employed in community employment with non-disabled coworkers through support services such as job development, placement, training, and support specific to the unique needs, skills and abilities of the individual.

Because supported employment is a process that emphasizes the individual, there is a high correlation between individual satisfaction and success.  With this personal success comes important contributions to the community.

The Employment Specialists (ES)

The Employment Specialists primary objective is to match people's skills with the employer needs.

Employment Specialists provide individualized job placement based on the person's employment interests and strengths, and on employer needs.

The ES responsibilities include:

  • Cultivating job opportunities with employees
  • ASsisting in resume writing
  • Performing job searches
  • Helping improve job and interview skills
  • Providing on the job coaching
  • Maintaining ongoing support through periodic visits on and off the worksite
