Internships with The Bridge

"Education may open doors, but experience gets you in."

The Bridge is committed to providing opportunities for students to gain meaningful experience through a variety of internship opportunities. Experiences range from an introductory 10 hour observation through full time year-long internships. The primary goal of the internship program is to provide the student with real world experiences.

Community Service Learners are introduced to the human service field with a 10-20 hour learning experience. Students are able to observe and participate in groups and milieu activities.

Bachelor Level training focuses on milieu therapy, skills groups and introduction to various individuals with mental health challenges and/or developmental disabilities. A minimum of 8 hours/week is expected at the undergraduate level.

Master Level internships are designed to provide students with a more intensive experience in milieu treatment, individual therapy, family and group therapy, clinical consultation, treatment planning, clinical documentation, individual and group clinical supervision, crisis intervention, case management, and collaboration with the greater mental health provider system. A minimum of 12 hours/week for 9 months is expected for Master Level placements.

In addition, due to the implementation of Evidence-Based Practice Models throughout the agency, students wishing to focus on a specific model of treatment are able to do so. These include Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Illness Management and Recovery, Supported Employment, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Individuals with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and Wraparound.

All Community Service Learning Opportunities, Bachelor or Master Level internships are coordinated through our Training Department.
