How The Bridge is Celebrating May is Mental Health Month

Our South County programs will be participating in an Expo at the Armory in Southbridge from 9:00am to 2:00pm.

Our North County programs will be hosting their annual cookout in collaboration with Alternatives and Crystal House at Monument Park in Gardner from 11am to 2pm.
The Worcester Adult Division will be holding a screening of an inspiring film about mental health. The event will be at the Worcester Public Library in the Saxe room from 1:00 to 3:00pm. They will have a table with informational materials related to mental health topics. They will also have a "paper quilt" featuring artistic expressions of "what people should know about mental health". The designs will be completed by the individuals and staff at The Bridge.
The Metro Suburban Division will be hosting a BBQ for family & friends at Hopkinton Start Park starting at 12:30pm. Rain date is May 30th.

Italian Buffet on Tuesday, March 5 to Benefit Safe Homes Safe Homes, a program of The Bridge of Central Massachusetts, is hosting an Italian Buffet at The Colonial Restaurant and Pub in Webster on Tuesday, March 5 from 6-10pm to kick off the nomination process for the Safe Homes People of Courage Awards and to raise funds for Safe Homes. Safe Homes is a program for LGBTQ youth and their allies ages 14-23, providing a free weekly drop-in center, education, counseling and support, as well as community education. The Safe Homes People of Courage Awards are given to individuals and organizations who demonstrate advocacy, leadership and support for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or questioning (LGBTQ) community. Awards will be presented at Safe Homes Spring Gala on May 3rd at the Worcester Historical Museum. More information on this event will be available soon. Tickets for the Italian Buffet and the People of Courage Nomination forms are available online at www.safehomesma.org or by calling Christina Foley at (508) 755-0333. Tickets are $15 per person and include a buffet or chicken parmesan, Caesar salad, pasta and garlic bread. Tickets will also be available at the door. The Bridge Receives Grant from MetLife Foundation The Bridge of Central Massaschusetts has received a $1,000 grant from the MetLife Foundation Employee Volunteer Program in recognition of voluntary service of Peter Bacchiocchi, Director of Marketing for MetLife, and member of the Bridge Board of Trustees, according to Bridge Executive Director Barent Walsh, Ph.D. The grant is part of MetLife's effort to encourage employees to contribute time and effort to their communities by awarding grants to nonprofit organizations where their employees volunteer. Bacchiocchi is a volunteer on the Advisory Board of Safe Homes, a program of the Bridge to provide support, education and counseling for LGBT youth in the Worcester area. Safe Homes offers a free weekly drop-in center with educational programming and support, which attracts 60-70 youth a week. The Bridge is a leader in providing evidence-based treatment and services for those with mental health challenges, developmental disabilities and acquired brain injury. The organization currently operates 43 programs in Central Mass., Metro West and the Boston region. Many of these are residential community living programs or supported housing programs. In addition, teh Bridge operates the Safe Homes program for LGBT youth, the G. Stanley Hall School for ages 8-13, a Training Institute for Human Service professionals and psychologists and a Trauma Institute to provide psychological first aid for those experiencing a traumatic event.
